Stuck in a fitness rut? Tired of your weekly runs? Or do you seek an adrenaline boost after a long day of work? We’ve rounded up some of the trendiest workouts that would spice up your life and do wonders to your fitness level. You’re welcome, ladies!

1. Spin Classes

If you are a social media addict, you would’ve come across pictures and Instagram stories of influencers sweating it out (whilst still looking glamourous) on stationary bicycles at their spin classes. Granted, spin classes aren’t new, but they have been gaining traction here — and understandably so!

For the uninitiated, spin classes are essentially cycling classes held in indoor studios complete with powerful music and fitted with incredible light systems. This exercise is great for those looking to build muscle strength or burn some calories. Local cycling boutique studios such as CruCycle and Anthem offer a wide range of cycling classes that will leave you breathless but invigorated. And if indoor cycling isn’t challenging enough for you, be sure to check out Aquaspin, a workout that allows you to cycle on stationary bikes underwater!

2. Aerial Yoga

Attention yoga junkies! Why stick to your current fitness regimen when the sky is the limit? Over the past few years, aerial yoga has taken flight in Singapore, as evinced by the number of aerial fitness studios that have popped up here. Defy gravity as you stretch, spin and swing on hammocks secured by carabiners or hoops. Not only does being an inverted position increase blood flow to your brain, but it also has been found to boost the immune system and uplift one’s spirits! Wish to pick up some suspension techniques? Sign up for classes at studios such as Yoga Mala or Aerial Fitness Studio then!

3. Hybrid Rebounding

What could possibly be better than reliving your golden childhood memories and, at the same time, leaping your way to a healthier lifestyle? Get your heart pumping with rebounding — a high-intensity aerobic exercise that is said to strengthen one’s muscles and lymphatic system at a reduced injury risk. This workout, which takes place on a mini trampoline known as the Rebounder (no points for guessing its name right), is perfect for all ages and fitness levels.

If you are psyched to get in shape by nailing some cool jumps and twists, don’t forget to pay a visit to BBounce Studio. The latter is known for its unique hybrid rebounding workouts, which combines different kinds of exercises with weights.

4. High-Intensity Interval Training (HIIT)

High-intensity interval training (HIIT), also called high-intensity intermittent exercise (HIIE) or sprint interval training (SIT), is a cardio session that alternates short bursts of vigorous exercise with less-intense recovery periods. HIIT has hit a fever pitch in the past few years, for it purportedly has the capability to effectively burn a huge amount of calories in a minimum amount of time. A classic example of HIIT is Tabata. Uncovered by Japanese scientist Dr. Izumi Tabata and a team of researchers from the National Institute of Fitness and Sports, this deceptively simple fitness program requires you to push yourself hard for 20 seconds for before resting for 10 seconds. Sounds easy? Well, we dare you to complete eight sets of each exercise in the workout! Click here for sample kick-butting Tabata exercises.
